Our Story

Qochon’s humble beginning started with us: two bankers who shared a love of food and healthy eating. As we explored the market of Asian cuisine locally and globally, our finding was that more often than not, people had the impression that Asian food was highly saturated in sodium. This lead to a misconceived perception that Asian food is unhealthy for everyday consumption in the American eye. This began our journey of what is now known as a signature Qochon dish: fresh, mindfully portioned, made-from-scratch wholesome fare prepared in small batches with locally sourced ingredients. The flavors in our dish, carefully crafted by Chef Pham, are a microcosm of what makes our food approachable — they are bright, clean, and contemporary. Qochon’s brand of nutritious and healthy Asian food is what stood and stands the test of time — through well-balanced and carefully crafted dishes, we are redefining the scene of Asian cuisine.

Our Chef

Lauren Pham is the mastermind behind what comes out the kitchen, the heart and soul of Qochon. Inspired by her mother, she incorporates traditional Vietnamese herbs and spices to all her original creations. She elevates her dishes by taking traditional recipes and experiments with different ingredients to merge her Vietnamese background food with the community around her. Chef Pham love for the local farmer markets produces a refreshing and comforting take to her cuisine.

Although Chef Pham passionately indulges herself in elevating her traditional Vietnamese recipes with different ingredients, she doesn’t identify herself as a “fusion” chef. Chef Pham’s goal isn’t to mask Vietnamese food into a fusion dish but rather, to enhance its flavor with local and healthy ingredients. Chef Pham stays true to her roots and keeps the authentic integrity of the Vietnamese culture in her dishes.

When it comes to cooking, Chef Pham loves the challenge of creating flavorful vegetarian dishes. Since solidifying her recipes that incorporate meat, Chef Pham pushes herself to create vegetarian dishes without compromising the taste.

Before Qochon, Chef Pham worked in corporate banking and only cooked for her family and friends. Once realizing that she wanted to spend her life doing something that she’s passionate about, she dropped her career and opened Qochon in 2015. Everything Chef Pham serves is something she’s proud to put out. She believes that there are no shortcuts to living a happy life and you go through it one day at a time. That same motto goes for her cooking: There are no shortcuts. Hence, why everything is made from scratch, prepped in her kitchen, and rendered by passion.
